10 Hour Race with Hog Roast & Band

Saturday 19th July

This will be a fantastic, fun, family occasion whether you sail or not!.

The race starts at 9am with team changes every 50 minutes over the ten hours. As well as the race, there will be model boat racing, on shore games (including a treasure hunt and Scalextric), a boat jumble and the Cadet Auction of Promises (see below).

Delicious food will be available all day, including bacon butties, ploughman's lunch ice cream, cream teas and home-made cakes. The bar will be serving real ales and cooling Pimms and there will be a hog roast and barbecue from 6.30pm.

Music in the evening will be provided by the Hot 5 Plus 1 Jazz Band.

All proceeds for the race will go to Frensham Pond Cadet class & smile4rich.co.uk


Auction of Promises

The annual Cadet fundraising Auction of Promises provides the funds to support the upkeep and renewal of the Club Cadets.

Any members interested in offering an item for the auction and in being able to bid are welcome to contact Nicola Bonner. The current list of auction items is as follows.

(Note from the Committee – as an ethnically diverse club, the committee wishes to make clear that the food item in question can be eaten as part of any religious festival and that the Santa and reindeers will therefore be removable. May contain nuts – the cake not the Committee)
Chris Ellis Find out how he does it - ¾ day training at Frensham with Chris Ellis, Frensham’s finest trainer. Training level to suit, in your own or the Ellis boat (Lark), could include boat set up, race strategy as well as just going faster through the water.
Justin Philipps/George Nevin Are you an adrenalin junkie? – then put yourself in the hands of Justin Phillipps for the ultimate white knuckle ride. Then after leaving the dock, try a wakeboarding or water-skiing session at Torbay during the Cadet Nationals. Fuel will be provided by nearest passing boat.
Nicola Bonner Is stress driving you up the wall? Then go the whole way with a climbing session at one of England’s finest schools. 1hr climbing session at Charterhouse Sports Centre climbing wall – max. 6 people min. age 8. Date TBA
Neil Hardie They’re so much fun, the committee tried to ban them! Try a ½ day blasting past the rest of the fleet in an RS200 at FPSC with Neil Hardie, Frensham’s finest trainer. Day TBA
Andy Shorrock Believe it or not, this is legal within the rules of yacht racing! Andy Shorrock, Frensham’s finest trainer, will work with you for 1 day on your Cadet race tactics at an upcoming event. Pre-race one-to-one briefing on race tactics and post race de-brief. PLUS a copy of the RYA book ‘Tactics’ signed by top coach, and author Mark Rushall
Jack Hardie Who better to give insider tips - ½ day crew training for a novice crew at FPSC by Jack Hardie, Frensham’s finest trainer.
Neil Hardie ½ day 1-to-1 training in a RS200 or Cadet by Neil Header-Hardie, Frensham’s finest trainer, on whatever topic(s) you like.
Katie Shorrock You are what you eat, reassess your body fuel, turbo-charge your temple. A 1-hour evaluation of your Wellness or Sports Nutrition with Herbalife Coach Katie Shorrock plus a supply of healthy snacks and sports drinks to support you for 1 week of championship sailing (or equivalent Wellness products).
Karen Whitford If your dog could talk, he’d say: “buy this promise, rruuf”. One weekend dog-sitting and general pampering for one dog (or bitch).

Iain Philpott Does he really get paid for this? – find out. Experience a day behind the scenes of a top fashion shoot with photographer Iain Philpott. Iain's clients include M&S, Debenhams, and Nivea to name a few. A perfect experience for a young creative who is interested in getting into the business. Transport from Churt and lunch included. So, give me your best pout, raise your right arm just a little bit higher sweetie and give it all you’ve got!
Griffiths Family Watch the racing in style. A day on Petasus (a new Elan 37) during the Cadet Nationals in Torquay. It could either be a day on the yacht watching the racing or a lay day where we set off to for a sail to Dartmouth/Brixham etc. Gourmet lunch will be provided by Alison Griffiths and Captain/Colonel (make up your mind) Mike Griffiths will chauffeur.
Ed Impey Give your child an unfair advantage. A days Cadet coaching by Ed Impey, Frensham’s finest trainer – for both helm and crew.
Jim Morley Described as a cross between John Buchan and Jilly Cooper. The entire x-rated Morley cannon, three novels by Frensham’s own James Morley.
Jim Morley Sick of drinking over-priced foreign muck? Savour two bottles of Priors Dean – England’s finest white wine, created using grapes handed down from Roman times, gently trod by Scandinavian beauties (also featured in previous promise).
Jonathan Griffiths A ½ day’s Cadet training by Jonathon Griffiths, Frensham’s finest trainer, in a for either crew or helm

Alison Griffiths Get your own back on the other parents, send the kids home from the party high on sucrose. A delicious children’s birthday cake.
Young Family Relive the Edwardian dream, enjoy the use of a luxury beach hut on Hayling Island. This hut is over a hundred years old and the scene of much jollity. Discretion assured.
Ian Cherril X-Box in v good condition with 3 controllers and lots of games. It even has the optional DVD player kit with a remote so you can use it to watch movies too. (Nb: not the newer XBox 360). Available to try out during the 10hr Race.
