Introduction
History
The 'Frensham Frenzy' was conceived in 2001, with the aim of running a small lake open pursuit similar to the 'Bloody Mary'. It is held just after the Dinghy Show, at the start of the main sailing season.
Objective
The objective of the 'Frensham Frenzy' is to lay on a major Open Pursuit race event. It is designed to show lake sailing at it's best, with close tacking and short legs. The target audience would be the traditional small lake classes, therefore making it a family fun sailing day.
Who can enter?
Boats invited are monohulls of 16 feet or less, with a Portsmouth Number between 950 and 1433, to keep the race spread manageable. The current maximum entry is 50 boats.
The Sailing
There are two pursuit races, both counting towards the overall points. Cadets will be the first off in each race at 10:40 and 13:40. Subsequent start times will be based on the current published PN numbers, ie. no local variations, corrected to the nearest whole minute. The length of the two races will be based on the Enterprises sailing for approximately 1 hour 15 minutes.
The course uses all of the lake, sailing around our numbered club marks positioned to give us the best course on the day.
Launching is off jetties, so no wet feet! And with a sociable lunch in between races, together with prizes for many categories, not just for the first few finishers; this is an event for those that just love a day's racing with family and friends.
