Facilities
The Sailing Club site is flat and fully wheelchair accessible. Concrete paths link the sailing area and all site buildings. The Clubhouse is on one level only. It has a dedicated fully accessible changing room/toilet/shower-room. The main male and female changing rooms are also roomy and wheelchair accessible.
The accessible shower and toilet facility in the Clubhouse will be supplemented, for the Championships, by a disabled ‘portaloo’ located close to the main Access launching area.
Boat launching and access to the water is good and designed for Sailability requirements.
There will be three Oxford Dipper Hoists in use during the Championships. Two will be located on the principal Sailability jetty. A third hoist will be shore located for direct sailor entry/exit into/from boats on land where appropriate Access dinghy launching trolleys are available.
Catering
The Clubhouse galley will be open throughout the three days of the Championships, providing food and refreshments from breakfast-time to bed-time!
There will be a BBQ on the Friday evening and an informal Championship dinner on the Saturday evening (see ‘Social’ for more details). The Championship Meeting will conclude with a free ‘Frensham Pond Sailing Club tea’ after prize-giving on Sunday afternoon
Accommodation
FREE OVERNIGHT ACCOMMODATION STILL AVAILABLE
To encourage maximum sailor participation, some free or subsidized accommodation is available for the two nights 1/2 and 2/3 September.
The accommodation will be at Treloar School, www.treloar.org.uk (about 20 minutes from the Sailing Club), which has specialist wheelchair-friendly twin-bedded rooms with en-suite facilities and hoists if needed. There are also a small number of 4-bedded rooms. Some additional free accommodation will be available with FPS members, but this is unlikely to be wheelchair-accessible or to have hoists.
The Treloar School accommodation will have kitchen facilities for hot drinks etc., with main meals being available at the Sailing Club at reasonable cost. It is hoped to allocate one large twin-bedded room per competitor so that a relative or helper can share the room. The rooms are sufficiently large to accommodate one or two additional helpers/family members who bring their own temporary bedding.
The free accommodation will be allocated on a first come first served basis on the principle of one helper per sailor. Any Access sailors expecting to attend the Championships, and wishing to take advantage of it, should e-mail the following information to Ted Bonner, at: rbonner@toucansurf.com
