Training at Frensham Pond

Frensham Pond Sailing Club is an RYA Recognised Teaching Establishment and offers top quality training in a safe, friendly and attractive environment.

Our aim at Frensham is to introduce new people to our sport, promote membership and offer club members an opportunity to improve their skills.

We are proud to be recognised by the RYA (Royal Yachting Association) as a Training Centre. To maintain this recognition we are inspected annually to ensure that we comply with the RYA's high standards regarding Safety, Child Protection, Quality of Instruction and Equipment.

We take the responsibility of training seriously, an example of this is that our instructors are all RYA qualified and hold valid first aid certificates, but we also work hard to ensure that the courses are fun. However, we do reserve the right to send home any child who misbehaves during a course.

The majority of the time is spent on the water with coaching, support and continuous assessment of sailing ability throughout the course. Theory is an important element of our course but we try to manage this within three short sessions, approximately 20 minutes each, throughout the day.

We welcome prospective members to the club on Saturday mornings to discuss the courses and detail and help to decide on the most appropriate one. We can often arrange for a taster sail at the same time but prefer to book this in advance.
