Race Training
Young Sailors Scheme - Racing Awards
The aim of this course is to give a solid introduction to dinghy racing at club level. Although essentially practical courses, sessions afloat will be backed up by lectures and demonstrations ashore. Training is always carried out in Cadet dinghies and parents are expected to arrange for a competent crew to be available throughout the course. In most cases it is not practical for two children in one dinghy to share the helming in a turn and turn about fashion.
Teaching is carried out by RYA Instructors from outside the boat often assisted by senior FPSC Cadets. For those who have not completed the Start Sailing or Basic Skills part of the RYA scheme, this implies at least one full season's sailing
Course Times: As arranged
Start Racing (Club Racing Techniques)
This course is similar to the one above but is aimed at adults and training takes place in GP14 dinghies. The courses are normally run on 5 consecutive Saturday afternoons and evenings
