Welcome to Frensham Pond Sailing Club. Based on a beautiful lake in South West Surrey, the club welcomes new members, both experienced sailors and those wishing to learn. If you would like to find out more, please look further at our website or why not take the opportunity to visit and talk with the club manager or the clubs members. Frensham Pond is a club for all ages, all abilities and all seasons.
Graham retires, Gavin takes over.
First and foremost, I am sure that the Laser fleet will join with me in expressing our warmest thanks to Graham Howlett for his long-term involvement as Laser Class Captain. Graham has now retired and is replaced by Gavin MacLachlan. Gavin is a relatively recent arrival to the club (2013/14) and is berthed beside the 2.4s next the carpark (sail no. 195760). So if you want to find him when rigging your Laser, you know where to find him.
Some administrative items:
Minor Series races - Lasers will continue what was started last year, by including two training sessions to replace two of the Minor Series races during the summer. Details will follow in due course.
Laser Thames Valley Circuit 2018 – our own Rob Beere, Thames Valley Coordinator, has provided a poster for the Thames Valley Circuit events for the forthcoming year. Please note the date of our own Laser Open Day, Sunday 16th September. Download Thames Valley Laser Grand Prix 2018 Poster
Ian Gregory has, once again, kindly arranged a series of combined adult/youth Laser training sessions. These will be run approximately monthly during 2018/19. I’ll circulate the specific time and dates once the Members’ Handbook has been published. Ian’s final training session for this winter takes place on Saturday 3rd March 2018 (rigging advice from 11am, ready to sail by 12 noon).
Tom Flintham Webmaster (and of course Laser sailor)
Luke Anstey was awarded Junior Sportsman of the Year at the East Hampshire Sports Awards last Thursday for his sailing achievements. There were 25 nominations from a wide range of sports, out of which Luke plus 3 others were shortlisted and interviewed by Roger Black (Olympic 400m medallist) in front of a large and rather enthusiastic audience. Yes, Frensham got a mention!
The Boat Booking system is not working at present. This is due to teething problems whilst moving the website to a new Internet Service Provider. This move will ensure a better and more reliable access to the site.
Update Thursday 16th Feb
Some of you noticed that the Members Handbook and Club Records and Archives were not available. That got fixed late last night thanks to Graham Howlett restoring some files after we spotted and corrected a bug.
So all that remains to be fixed is the Boat Booking system. This might take a little longer
