COVID 19 Closure at Frensham Pond SC

The recent announcement by the Prime Minister that ""We need people to start working from home where they possibly can. And you should avoid travel, pubs, clubs, theatres and other such social venues" has left the Committee with no alternative to suspending all organised activities at Frensham Pond Sailing Club for the foreseeable future.

With immediate effect all dinghy racing, training, coaching, workshops, Model Yacht Group and Sailability and any other organised activities at Frensham Pond Sailing Club are postponed until further notice. Some casual sailing may be permitted on the Pond for maintaining fitness after appropriate reviews are carried out. This will be advised by an update to this notice.

This isn't a decision which was taken lightly as club sailing is instrumental in providing hundreds of youngsters and able and disabled sailors of all ages and walks of life with a sport where the encouragement of self reliance and risk assessment is at the core of what we do.

Arrangements for those booked on training courses are being reviewed over the next week or so and alternative arrangements will be put in place.

The Club will keep events and governmental guidance under review and will issue a further update as and when there are any substantive changes to this notice.

Covid-19

Dear All

You will be aware that Covid-19 is continuing to spread and the health advice published by the government / NHS.

Clearly good hygiene is a vital part of reducing the risk of spreading any virus and while I am sure you are all doing this at home and in the workplace could I ask that you try to observe the following at the club:

  • make sure you wash your hands regularly with soap and warm water - NB please do so every time you first go into the clubhouse
  • use tissues or a flexed elbow to cover your mouth and nose when you cough or sneezing
  • put used tissues in a bin as soon as possible
  • avoid unnecessary contact with people that are unwell
  • avoid touching surfaces used by other people where possible
  • do not touch your eyes, nose or mouth if your hands are not clean

I have attached a link to the NHS website that provides information on Covid-19 and also address the common questions that you might have.

https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/

As with any seasonal cold/flu, if you are concerned that you might be contagious, please do not attend the club.
