Commodore's Update 11th September 2020

Covid 19 Update

I am sure you are all aware of the announcement by the Prime Minister. The Committee will review the implications of this and we will be looking to the RYA for any amendments to their advice. In advance of this can I ask you all to redouble your efforts to follow the Stage 3 plan and in particular:-

  • You must register your attendance on site using the General sailing or Racing links on the website. Saturday Youth and Sailability members should use the relevant systems to record attendance BUT please note that you must record any racing or general sailing in addition to any sign in for Youth training or Sailability. If you do not "pre book" for any racing you will be DSQ
  • Please maintain your efforts to keep the gate closed to avoid non-members coming on site uninvited. A pain I know but important. We have had a few instances of the gate and clubhouse being left open so if you are last on site please make sure everything is locked. If you don't have keys ring a Flag Officer or GC member to advise that security has been breached.
  • The bar and changing rooms are operating under tight restrictions which allows us to provide these facilities. Please follow the rules to allow us to keep these open.
  • As everywhere in your daily lives please maintain social distancing and keep gatherings to Six or less

Prizegiving for Winter 2019 to 2020

For those of you who just managed to win a prize for the Winter season before it was curtailed by Covid you will be pleased to know that we are now ready to hold a virtual prizegiving. Starting from this Saturday you are asked to collect prizes and trophies from the Office. Please come to the door and Pat or I will provide you with trophies/vouchers and take a photograph for the website. All very low key but this is the best we can do under the restrictions. The Adult prizewinners are as shown in the attached word file

Prizegiving for the Cadet and Tera classes will be announced separately by the class captains and will be carried out in the same manner

Use of Changing Rooms

THE CHANGING ROOMS WILL PARTIALLY RE-OPEN FROM SATURDAY 6THSEPTEMBER 2020. THE CLUB IS TAKING ALL REASONABLE STEPS TO MINIMISE THE RISK OF INFECTION TRANSMISSION BASED ON THE GOVERNMENT’S GUIDELINES FOR SPORTS FACILITIES AND THE RYA’S SPECIFIC ADVICE. HOWEVER, IT REMAINS THE POSITION THAT MEMBERS MUST UNDERSTAND AND ACKNOWLEDGE THE RISK FROM PATHOGENS INHERENT IN THEIR USE OF THE CLUB’S FACILITIES.

IN ORDER TO MAKE THIS WORK AND TO AVOID HAVING TO CLOSE THE CHANGING ROOMS AGAIN, PLEASE TAKE RESPONSIBILITY AND ABIDE BY THE FOLLOWING ADVICE :

  • PLEASE CONTINUE TO ARRIVE AT THE CLUB IN SAILING KIT OR CHANGE IN THE CLUB GROUNDS AS FAR AS POSSIBLE. IF YOU CAN GO HOME WITHOUT USING THE CHANGING ROOMS AS WELL – GREAT!
  • MAXIMUM CAPACITY IN CHANGING AREAS AND SHOWERS IS :
    8 FEMALES                   10 MALES
  • IF YOU FIND THEY ARE FULL THEN PLEASE LEAVE IMMEDIATELY AND WAIT OUTSIDE, WELL AWAY FROM THE ENTRANCE AREA / RAMP. OR TRY AGAIN LATER.
  • IN ADDITION PEOPLE NOT GETTING CHANGED MAY ACCESS THE TOILETS.
  • PLEASE KEEP TO THE MARKED WALKWAYS WHEN ENTERING AND LEAVING.
  • PLEASE MAINTAIN 2M DISTANCING FROM OTHER PEOPLE CHANGING.
  • PLEASE BE AS QUICK AS POSSIBLE - NO FAFFING AND NO CHATTING!
  • CONSIDER REMOVING BUOYANCY AND WATERPROOFS OUTSIDE – IT REDUCES TIME IN THE CHANGING ROOMS AND MAKES FOR LESS MESS AND EASIER CLEANING.
  • PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE ANY KIT BAGS IN THE CHANGING ROOMS – THEY MUST BE RETURNED TO YOUR VEHICLES WHEN YOU HAVE CHANGED.
  • PLEASE GIVE PRIORITY TO PEOPLE COMING OFF THE WATER.
  • PLEASE LEAVE THE AREA YOU USE CLEAN – WIPES AND DISINFECTANT ARE PROVIDED.
  • PARENTS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR MONITORING THEIR CHILDREN’S USE OF THE FACILITIES.

ABOVE ALL PLEASE BE RESPONSIBLE, PLEASE BE PATIENT AND
PLEASE ACT WITH CONSIDERATION FOR OTHERS.

ISSUED BY THE GENERAL COMMITTEE 4 SEPT. 2020
